Do they really shoot the guns and the cannons? Are they loud?
Yes, the cannons and rifles are fired on site by trained Fort Henry Guard! As exciting as they are, sometimes they can be quite startling due to the loud volume. We recommend that you bring earplugs or sound-dampening headphones for those who are sensitive to sound. If forgotten, please ask a Fort Henry employee for a pair of earplugs.
Are service animals permitted?
Absolutely. Please note that only service animals are permitted in the Lower Fort (where Sunset Ceremonies are hosted). Loud cannons and gunfire can be startling.
Will you have food available on-site?
Yes! Before the show, take advantage of our table d’hôte Dinner and a Show packages. Please call 613-542-7388 ext. 4208 for reservations. In addition, you can check out Mrs. Henry’s Treat Shop in the Advanced Battery. In the Lower Fort, visit the Bonnycastle Bakery for wine, beer and gourmet grilled cheese. Hours of operation may vary. Before or after the show you may also enjoy a BeaverTail on site!
Do you serve alcohol?
Yes, you can purchase a range of beverages at the Battery Bistro restaurant or if you’re looking to enjoy a beverage during the show, visit the Bonnycastle Bakery for beer or wine.
Can I bring my own food and snacks?
Unfortunately, no outside food or drink is permitted.
How long does the show run?
Sunset Ceremony shows are approximately 90 minutes in length from 7:30pm-9:00pm. Be sure to arrive around 7:00pm to get a good seat and have time to visit the Bonnycastle Bakery and the Commissariat Store. The show begins promptly at 7:30pm.
When do doors open?
Access to the lower Fort opens at 6:30pm.
Will there be accessibility assistance available?
For those who require an accessible shuttle from the parking lot to the Lower Fort, services will be available starting 6:30 pm with the last one departing at 7:10pm. Return accessible shuttle service will start at 9:15pm. We appreciate your patience, as there may be a short wait time between shuttles.
Do you have a gift store?
Yes, we have Mrs.Henry’s Treat Shop found in the Upper Fort, and The Commissariat Store in the Lower Fort (where Sunset Ceremony shows take place).
Is the show appropriate for all ages?
Of course, but please note that cannons and gunfire can be loud. We advise using noise dampening headphones or earplugs for those who may be sensitive to sound.
Where can I purchase tickets?
You can buy your ticket online or at the ticket booth in person. Buying online in advance will prompt a much quicker process time at the ticket booth as your ticket will be quickly scanned and then you may enter Fort Henry!
Can I bring a lawn chair?
Fort Henry has numerous bleachers for seating as well as a balcony seating upgrade option (limited spaces available for purchase), which offer closed-backed chairs. If you require a special seat or lawn chair, please submit your request by email in advance to Jamie.firstname.lastname@example.org for approval. This way, we can ensure Fort Henry staff are advised in advance of your exception.
Do you have accessibility seating?
Yes, there is reserved bleacher seating for those with accessibility needs.
Do you have a sign language interpreter?
Yes! Fort Henry is pleased to offer an ASL interpreter for the duration of Sunset Ceremony shows. If you require Sign Language services, please watch for signage on the designated bleacher area across the parade square and to the right when you enter the lower Fort. Fort Henry staff can also show you where the designated seating area is.
Is the show bilingual?
Yes, the show is designed for a bilingual audience and includes both English and French.
What happens if it rains?
The show goes on! Please be prepared for the weather. In the case of severer inclement weather, the SLPC may choose to cancel the show for the safety of our visitors and staff. Please keep your eye on Fort Henry social media channels for announcements. In the case of cancellation, you are welcome to come to another Sunset Ceremony show, as refunds are not offered. Please ensure you pick up a “rain check” on your way out.
Is there free parking?
Yes, parking is free. In addition to the Fort Henry parking lot, you may also park on the designated grass hill. Parking lot attendants will be on site to direct you.
Can I leave my car overnight?
Yes, you can leave your car overnight at your own risk.
