WILL BAIRD NEW MANAGER AT FORT HENRY
Darren Dalgleish, CEO of the St. Lawrence Parks Commission announced this week the promotion of Will Baird to the position of Manager, Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada, effective immediately. In March 2012, Baird was appointed on an acting basis to the newly created position of Manager which combined the Maintenance and Operations functions along with the new Manager of Fort Henry position.
Since assuming the position last spring Baird has made a clear priority of promoting a safe and healthy work environment and furthering the business directives of the Fort Henry business unit. He successfully oversaw the completion of many projects and large capital deployments, and the opening of the new Fort Henry Discovery Centre. Will has ensured that Fort Henry is well on its way in achieving its very aggressive business plan.
Baird is no stranger to Fort Henry having served as the Special Events Officer for several years. His focus has been on the development of new product and programming and he has played a key role in the production of many successful special events at Fort Henry including the development of Fort Fright, the Sunset Ceremonies, 1812 Overture, and Tattoo, to name a few.
Fort Henry along with the Rideau Canal is part of Ontario’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located in Kingston, Ontario on County Road 2 at the junction of Highway 15.
