Fort Henry National Historic Site
Restoration Project
Help champion the restoration of Fort Henry National Historic Site!
The St.Lawrence Parks Commission, along with senior levels of government
has embarked on an ambitious long-term capital restoration plan to restore
this important heritage resource.
Last restored during the Great Depression, time and the harsh Canadian winters have taken their toll on this magnificent limestone fortress.Without the decisive action taken by governments and individuals, original fabric would have been lost forever and key elements of the Fort's award-winning military interpretive program may have been significantly downscaled or even eliminated.
Major conservation projects currently in various stages of planning and implementation include the Entrance cutting, Advanced Battery and the North
Wall of the Redoubt. Each intervention will relfect a strong commitment by all parties to respecting the original character and integrity of this important
British Military site and its role in the development of Canada.
We have a long way to go to ensure Fort Henry is preserved and maintained for the education and enjoyment of future generations.
